If you’re on a low income or have experienced a crisis, managing your daily expenses can be tough. Our Emergency Assistance service provides urgent emergency support over the phone if you are struggling.

We can provide access to food, clothing, pharmacy vouchers (for PBS prescriptions) and transportation assistance. We also offer support, advocacy and referrals to other specialist services that may help.

Our free budgeting support program is designed to help you manage money, increase your skills and confidence when dealing with finances, and help you get back on your feet.

By attending a budget support appointment you will:

  • understand and develop a budget
  • establish financial goals
  • access support in completing applications and forms – Centrepay, Concessions, NILS, grant applications
  • increase your understanding of tips and strategies (phone apps, websites, available local services)

The program assists people with understanding and managing their personal circumstances associated with living on a low income. We also work with agencies to support people who are disadvantaged or on low incomes to gain greater control of their situation, through community education, information and advocacy.

Energy assessments & workshops

Managing and understanding electricity, gas and water usage can be difficult and confusing. We offer a range of programs to help people understand their energy and water bills, save money on household usage, find a better deal and get assistance if they are struggling to pay their utility bills.

We provide information sessions for community groups, and offer individual case management to help keep people connected to energy, water and communications. The team can help you identify available concessions, read your meters and energy bills, get a better deal, make a complaint and negotiate bill payments. We also provide free in-home and phone energy assessments across the state.
